BYD Recalls 183,211 Tang and Qin Vehicles Over Brake Pedal Stop Pad Defect
BYD Auto Industry Co. and BYD Auto Co. filed recall plans with China's State Administration for Market Regulation on September 18. The recall covers 183,211 vehicles: 58,026 Tang series, 77,846 new-generation Tang DM, 7,023 new-generation Tang EV, and 40,316 Qin series models. A batch abnormality in the brake pedal stop pad material may cause the pad to detach in extreme cases, leaving the brake lights on when the pedal is not depressed and sending a false signal to following vehicles.

BYD Auto Industry Co. is recalling 58,026 Tang series vehicles produced between March 28, 2015 and December 21, 2018; 77,846 new-generation Tang DM series vehicles produced between May 19, 2018 and January 14, 2022; and 7,023 new-generation Tang EV series vehicles produced between December 27, 2018 and October 25, 2021.
is recalling 40,316 Qin series vehicles produced between June 27, 2014 and June 9, 2019.
Due to manufacturing issues, some vehicles within the recall scope have a batch abnormality in the brake pedal stop pad material. In extreme cases, the stop pad may detach, causing the brake lights to remain on when the brake pedal is not depressed and transmitting a false signal to vehicles behind, posing a safety hazard.
