Creator Fan Shisan tests modified flying two-wheel EV in Chengdu

In Chengdu, creator Fan Shisan's team demonstrated a modified Yadea Guineng Baisha II Ailian two-wheel electric vehicle that lifted off using 48 ducted power units. Yadea supplied the vehicle platform, battery technology and chassis architecture; the project took over two months. Fan plans to increase the units to 68 for greater stability and payload. Yadea's Zhou Chaoyang said it is a creative experiment, not a production aircraft.

At a test site in Chengdu, a flying electric vehicle successfully lifted off. The vehicle was modified from the Yadea Guineng Baisha II Ailian model, with 48 ducted power units densely arranged around its body. It was modified by the team of Fan Shisan, a creator born in the 1990s. In 2025, Fan Shisan's team built a manned flying "sword" that closely resembled the sword-riding flight of legend. Fan later proposed building a safer aircraft that more people could experience.

For a two-wheel electric vehicle to leave the ground, it needs a lightweight battery to provide power, a high-rigidity frame to withstand takeoff and landing impacts, and a mature complete-vehicle platform to carry the flight modules. Electric vehicle company Yadea took part in the collaboration, providing the complete-vehicle platform, battery technology and chassis architecture. The two sides went from design drawings to module debugging and then to multiple test flights, a process lasting more than two months. Zhou Chaoyang, senior vice president and rotating president of Yadea Technology Group, said there were multiple falls during testing. The vehicle carries a Beijiguang sodium battery that weighs only half as much as a lead-acid battery of the same capacity; the high-rigidity frame can withstand repeated takeoff and landing impacts.

Fan Shisan disclosed that the follow-up iteration plan is to increase the ducted power units from 48 to 68 to enhance flight stability and payload capacity. Zhou Chaoyang responded that this is a creative experiment, not a production aircraft. He said the product is still being optimized, and the team will overcome bottlenecks including flight control algorithms, power endurance and airworthiness safety. Fan Shisan's team already has its next plan: after the flying electric vehicle lands, it will continue developing a "spaceship" that can carry multiple passengers.
