EU Filing Shows iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max at C Repairability Grade

Product information filed by Apple with regulators under the EU energy-efficiency and environmental product labelling rules shows that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max carry a higher overall repairability rating than the previous-generation iPhone 17 Pro series. Both new models are rated C under the EU's A-to-E energy and repairability label system.

Under EU rules, manufacturers selling phones in the EU must carry out their own multi-dimensional quantitative assessment of repairability against a uniform statutory standard. The scoring system covers six core dimensions: disassembly depth, fastener type, repair tools required, spare-parts supply, the software-update support period, and transparency of repair technical information. Each dimension is scored from 0 to 5, and the scores are weighted to produce a combined repairability index.

Comparative data show the combined repairability index for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max rising to 3.14 from 3.04 for the iPhone 17 Pro series, an increase of 0.10. Within that, the repair-tools-required score rose to 2.55 from 2.05, up 0.50, while the disassembly-depth score rose to 2.75 from 2.65. The fastener-type score was unchanged at 3.80, the spare-parts-supply score stood at 4.00, and the score for official repair guidance and technical information transparency made available to third parties and the public was 5.00. Both models were rated 1.00 on the software-update support period; under the EU rating rules, a hardware manufacturer must give a written commitment at the level of a legal obligation to provide a minimum of more than five years of system support to qualify for a higher tier.

The iPhone 18 Pro series is scheduled to go on sale on September 18, 2026. Apple's first foldable model, the iPhone Duo, is due to begin deliveries in October 2026 and is not yet open for pre-order; Apple has not yet submitted or published detailed EU repairability data for the foldable device.
