GAC Trumpchi Yue 7 Unveils Interior and Smart Cockpit, Pre-Sales Due September 2026

GAC Trumpchi has released interior and smart cockpit details for the Yue 7, its first box-style model. The new vehicle is positioned as a mid-to-large SUV with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with pre-sales scheduled to begin in September 2026. The Yue 7 has launched an early-adoption plan and is gradually rolling out to dealerships nationwide, with some outlets featuring off-road experience zones. GAC Trumpchi also plans pop-up stores and supermarket retail locations in core commercial districts, with the first batch covering Beijing, Tianjin, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Chengdu and other cities.

Box-style SUVs typically refer to hard-off-road vehicles with squared-off bodywork, high ground clearance and strong off-road capability. In the Chinese auto market, this segment has evolved from professional off-road tools into lifestyle vehicles serving urban commuting, family travel and light outdoor scenarios. The Yue 7's positioning reflects this shift, targeting consumers who want an outdoor character from their vehicle while relying on it primarily for daily city use. Traditional hard-off-road vehicles have been constrained by high fuel consumption, elevated running costs and pronounced interior noise, limiting their appeal to a broader family customer base.

The Yue 7 offers a 30-degree approach angle, a 33-degree departure angle and 310mm of ground clearance, fitted with air springs, continuously variable damping shock absorbers, an all-terrain response system and triple differential locks. For the smart cockpit, the Yue 7 comes with the Xinghe smart cockpit ADiGO 7.0, combining a full-width display with an independent center console screen and powered by Qualcomm's new-generation cockpit chip. These features are designed to enhance adaptability across varied road conditions while strengthening convenience and comfort in everyday use.

The box-style SUV market has expanded rapidly over the past decade, with annual sales climbing from roughly 100,000 units to one million units by 2025, alongside a significant increase in the number of models available. The segment continues to grow at a brisk pace in 2026. New energy penetration in the hard-off-road segment has risen steadily, exceeding 40 percent in 2025 and approaching 50 percent in the first quarter of 2026. Automakers including BYD, Great Wall, Chery and BAIC have all entered the segment, with the Tank 300 and Fangchengbao Bao 5 emerging as mainstream models. Despite the notable growth, box-style vehicles remain far from mainstream within the overall passenger car market, and as more players join, selling points such as squared-off styling, off-road kits, camping scenarios and smart cockpits have begun to converge significantly.
