iPhone 18 Pro Max Tests Show 52W Peak Charging, 50% in 15 Minutes
Testing shows the iPhone 18 Pro Max is the fastest-charging iPhone to date, peaking at about 52W and reaching 34% in 10 minutes and 50% in 15 minutes, with a full charge in roughly 76 minutes. Apple says a 60W-or-higher USB-C adapter with adjustable voltage supply is required, and no charger is included. Wireless MagSafe charging reaches 50% in about 30 minutes.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is now the fastest-charging iPhone. Test data show a peak charging power of up to about 52W, with the battery reaching 34% in 10 minutes and 50% in 15 minutes, and the system displaying 100% at about 55 minutes. After the screen shows 100%, the phone continues low-power charging until it stops completely at about 76 minutes. By comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max peaks at about 35W, reaches about 38% in 15 minutes, and takes about 72 minutes to fully charge.
Apple's published figures show that the iPhone 18 Pro Max can reach 50% in about 15 minutes when used with a USB-C power adapter rated at 60W or higher that supports adjustable voltage supply (AVS), paired with a USB-C cable of matching rating. Apple also says that five minutes of wired charging gives the iPhone 18 Pro Max up to about seven hours of video playback. Apple does not include a charger with the iPhone 18 Pro Max, so the compatible charging equipment needed to achieve these wired speeds must be purchased separately.
For wireless charging, using a power adapter rated at 35W or higher with MagSafe can raise the battery to 50% in about 30 minutes; peak charging power at the phone is 25W for both MagSafe and Qi2. Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro series uses a redesigned battery approach, adding endurance through the greater efficiency of the A20 Pro chip and enabling faster wired charging; Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers the largest battery-life increase in iPhone history.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max does not sustain high power input throughout. The phone dynamically adjusts input power based on the battery's current level, temperature, and charging stage, maintaining higher power at low battery levels and gradually reducing it as the battery approaches full, in order to control battery temperature and limit the effects of prolonged high-load charging. Compared with some Android flagships, the Galaxy S26 Ultra reached about 51% in 15 minutes in testing and took about 43 minutes to charge fully; its battery capacity is smaller than that of the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
