Meituan Says Mobike Deposit Refund Channel Open Since 2018
Meituan confirmed that Mobike users can apply for a full refund of their 299 yuan deposit through the Meituan app, a channel that has been available since 2018. Refunds do not affect users' deposit-free riding benefits. Meituan also clarified that ofo deposits are not handled through its platform.
Mobike users have recently discovered that they can apply for a full refund of the 299 yuan deposit paid years ago. Some users have shared their successful refund experiences on social media, noting that the funds arrived quickly. Meituan customer service confirmed that the Mobike deposit refund channel has been open since 2018 and is not a newly introduced policy. After the deposit is refunded, users' deposit-free riding benefits on the Meituan bike platform remain unaffected.
Mobike was acquired by Meituan in 2018. Balances and riding card packages in original Mobike accounts can still be used within the Meituan app. Old users with outstanding deposits can follow the in-app instructions to submit refund requests. Meituan customer service specifically reminded users that Mobike and ofo have different deposit handling channels. ofo is not part of Meituan's business, and its deposits cannot be refunded through the Meituan platform.
Users wishing to apply for a refund can open the Meituan app, search for and enter the Meituan Bike page, find the deposit entry under personal settings, verify their information, and submit the request. If the entry cannot be found, users can consult the in-app online customer service for assistance.
