Mercedes-Benz Files Three Electric VLE MPVs with MIIT, Dual-Motor Version Rated 305kW

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on August 7 published a new product disclosure for the 410th batch of road motor vehicle manufacturers and product announcements, in which Mercedes-Benz completed the filing of three all-electric MPVs. The lineup comprises the VLE 400 4MATIC dual-motor version, the VLE 300 single-motor version and the VLE 300 single-motor optioned version, all with a seven-seat layout and identical body dimensions: 5,310 millimetres in length, 2,000 millimetres in width, 1,922 millimetres in height, a 3,340-millimetre wheelbase and a top speed of 170 kilometres per hour.

The VLE 400 (product model FA6530TBEV) is the dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant, with a front motor developing 200 kilowatts of peak power and 120 kilowatts of rated power, and a rear motor developing 105 kilowatts of peak power and 50 kilowatts of rated power, giving a combined system peak output of 305 kilowatts. It has a kerb weight of 3,220 kilograms and a gross vehicle weight of 3,780 kilograms. Optional exterior equipment includes LED lights, steel wheels, tyres, grille, AMG grille and AMG front bumper, as well as an optional ETC onboard device; a vehicle event data recorder is fitted as standard.

The VLE 300 base version (product model FA6530EBEV) is a single-motor rear-wheel-drive variant, with a drive motor delivering 200 kilowatts of peak power and 120 kilowatts of rated power. Its kerb weight is 3,030 kilograms and its gross vehicle weight is 3,780 kilograms. Options cover steel wheels, tyres and a sunroof, and the vehicle also comes with an event data recorder. The VLE 300 optioned version (product model FA6530MBEV) has essentially the same parameters as the base version, with a slightly higher kerb weight of 3,080 kilograms, and adds sporty exterior options including LED lights, AMG grille and AMG front bumper.

All three models draw energy from nickel-cobalt-manganese lithium batteries supplied by CATL, with cells manufactured by Fuding Times New Energy Technology. The seating configuration is a 2+3 seven-seat layout: the two electric seats in the second row cannot be folded or flipped forward, while the three electric seats in the third row can be folded but cannot be flipped forward. The longitudinal length of the luggage compartment is 550 millimetres.
