Mitsubishi Confirms ASX VR-e Electric Crossover for Australia in Q4 2026, Starting at A$40,000

Mitsubishi Motors has announced that its new all-electric crossover, the ASX VR-e, will go on sale in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2026. The vehicle was designed by Italian design house Pininfarina, featuring a full-width front light bar and a recessed grille, giving it a futuristic appearance. Pininfarina has previously worked on designs for Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo, and has collaborated with Mitsubishi in the past.

The ASX VR-e is based on the Bria model from Foxtron, the electric vehicle brand of Foxconn (Hon Hai Group), with minor adjustments and a rebadging. The Bria went on sale in Taiwan in December 2025, with the entry-level version priced at about A$40,000, equivalent to roughly US$28,000.

In terms of powertrain, the entry-level Bria features a rear-mounted single motor producing 230 horsepower, paired with a 57.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and offers a NEDC range of 516 kilometers. The higher-spec version uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined output of 400 horsepower, achieving a 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds and a range of approximately 466 kilometers. Charging supports up to 134 kW DC fast charging, replenishing the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.

Mitsubishi said the ASX VR-e will incorporate brand elements in the front and rear styling, wheels, and cabin details, but has not yet disclosed specific configurations. The company has not revealed whether the model will enter the U. S. market, and it is also preparing to revive the Pajero off-road SUV. In Australia, the ASX VR-e will target the compact electric segment, competing with models such as the MG 4 and BYD Dolphin.
