Samsung Galaxy Z8 Series Sets Galaxy Record with 1.44 Million Pre-orders in South Korea
Samsung's Galaxy Z8 series drew 1.44 million pre-orders in South Korea, the highest ever for a Galaxy smartphone series. The total surpassed the 1.38 million record set by the Galaxy Note10 in 2019 and the 1.35 million posted by the Galaxy S26 series in 2026. The Galaxy Z Fold8 accounted for about 70 percent of pre-orders, or more than 1 million units. Sales start Friday in over 100 countries and regions.
Samsung's Galaxy Z8 series has reached 1.44 million pre-orders in South Korea, setting a new record for Galaxy series smartphones. Pre-orders ran from July 28 to August 3, surpassing the 1.38 million units recorded by the Galaxy Note10 in 2019. The figure also exceeds the 1.35 million units of the Galaxy S26 series launched in 2026 and the roughly 1.04 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7 series launched in 2025.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 accounted for about 70 percent of total pre-orders, or more than 1 million units. Among customers who pre-ordered through Samsung's online store, consumers aged 10 to 39 made up about half, while female buyers of the Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra more than doubled compared with the previous generation. The Galaxy Z8 series, consisting of the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra and Z Flip8, will go on sale starting Friday, August 7, in more than 100 countries and regions, including South Korea.
