Samsung Launches 200-Megapixel ISOCELL HPC Sensor with 16-Bit RAW and 4K 180fps Video

Published: Updated: By 24TopNews Editorial Desk

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its new flagship mobile image sensor, the ISOCELL HPC. The 200-megapixel device is the first to feature DeepPix technology, supporting 16-bit RAW output with improved dynamic range and low-light performance, according to the company. It uses a 1/1.3-inch optical format with 0.6-micrometre pixels, offers in-sensor zoom at 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x and 4x with HDR maintained at each magnification, and supports 4K video recording at 180 frames per second for slow-motion capture.

Samsung Electronics today officially launched the ISOCELL HPC, its new flagship mobile image sensor. The sensor is the first to incorporate DeepPix technology and supports 16-bit RAW output, which the company says delivers improvements in dynamic range and low-light performance. The product offers 200 megapixels, with a 1/1.3-inch photosensitive area and a single pixel size of 0.6 micrometres.

DeepPix technology allows the sensor to accommodate more light before overexposure, improving highlight performance and preserving richer detail in both highlights and shadows. The sensor supports 16-bit HDR technology, which suppresses noise in complex lighting environments. In terms of zoom, the ISOCELL HPC supports in-sensor zoom at 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x and 4x magnification, with HDR image quality maintained at every focal length.

For video capture, the ISOCELL HPC supports high frame-rate recording at 4K 180fps, enabling slow-motion footage. The sensor is equipped with a new lens and light-guiding system that directs more light to each individual pixel.
