SK Hynix Plans LPDDR6 Mass Production in H2 2026, Speed Up 33%, Power Down 20%
SK Hynix plans to begin mass production and shipment of next-generation LPDDR6 mobile memory in the second half of 2026. The product, completed in March 2026, uses a sixth-generation 10-nanometer (1c) process, achieving 10.7 Gbps speed — 33% faster than LPDDR5X — and over 20% lower power consumption through sub-channel architecture and dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS). The first customer is Chinese brand Xiaomi. SK Hynix also targets the AI server market with 512 GB SOCAMM modules for agentic AI. ChangXin Memory is preparing for DDR6 production but remains years away, giving SK Hynix a market window.

The product completed development in March 2026 and is currently undergoing pre-production preparations. LPDDR6 is manufactured using a sixth-generation 10-nanometer (1c) process and operates at 10.7 Gbps, approximately 33% faster than the previous generation LPDDR5X. In terms of power consumption, the introduction of a sub-channel architecture and dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) technology reduces overall power consumption by more than 20% compared to the previous generation. The sub-channel architecture intelligently identifies and activates only the necessary data paths, while DVFS dynamically adjusts voltage and frequency based on actual load, delivering maximum bandwidth under heavy workloads and reducing frequency and voltage under light loads.
One of the first customers is Chinese domestic brand Xiaomi. Beyond the smartphone segment, SK Hynix is also targeting the AI server market, planning to launch LPDDR6 memory in SOCAMM form factor with capacities up to 512 GB per module to meet the low power, high bandwidth, and easy heat dissipation requirements of agentic artificial intelligence. ChangXin Memory is actively preparing for capacity transition to drive DDR6 memory mass production, but that stage is still several years away, and this technology gap creates a market window for SK Hynix.
By fully pushing LPDDR6 into the AI data center domain, SK Hynix is further consolidating its dominant position in global next-generation memory standards.
