Snap Launches Predictive AI Assistant Specs Intelligence, Debuts on iPhone

Published: Updated: By 24TopNews Editorial Desk

Snap has introduced Specs Intelligence, an AI assistant that moves beyond chatbot-style interaction to anticipate user needs and help complete tasks. It launches first on iPhone through an invite-based preview, with a Mac waitlist open and future integration planned with Snap's new augmented-reality Specs glasses. The service connects authorized apps, builds long-term context around goals and habits, and adds Corners and Goals features. Snap says user data cannot be viewed by employees and is not used to train its AI models or for ad personalization.

Snap has released Specs Intelligence, a new artificial intelligence service that upgrades its AI assistant from a conventional chatbot into a digital assistant capable of proactively understanding user needs, anticipating tasks and helping complete work. The service debuts first on iPhone and will expand gradually to Mac through an invitation system, with deeper integration planned for Specs, Snap's newly launched augmented-reality glasses. Snap describes Specs Intelligence as a predictive AI service: rather than waiting for users to ask questions, it continuously understands their habits, goals and daily activities and offers help at the appropriate moment.

Specs Intelligence can connect to various apps and services authorized by the user, building long-term knowledge about personal goals, priorities, relationships and lifestyle habits. As usage grows, the system accumulates contextual information, forming a more complete personal digital profile spanning work and life. Before an upcoming meeting, it can automatically organize relevant background material and flag decisions to be made, questions worth raising and important matters to note. For an upcoming business trip or journey, it can automatically compile flight, hotel and restaurant booking information while alerting users to work deadlines that conflict with their itinerary. Users can still converse with it as they would with a traditional AI chatbot.

The release coincides with Specs, Snap's first consumer-facing augmented-reality glasses. The company said users can still access Specs Intelligence through iPhone and Mac without purchasing the glasses. In the augmented-reality glasses environment, the system can display user-relevant information directly in the field of view according to the current context, such as automatically showing boarding information, hotel booking records and important reminders during a trip, or generating a complete daily briefing before work that includes schedules, meeting preparation material and other to-do items. Demonstration materials showed that Specs Intelligence can connect to common workplace tools including Gmail and Slack.

To help users manage complex matters, Snap introduced a feature called Corners that organizes life content by dimensions such as work and family. It also added a Goals module for setting and tracking long-term objectives, linking daily tasks to longer-term plans. On privacy, Snap said users control the scope of data authorization and can decide which services to connect and what content the system may access. Snap employees cannot view personal data connected through Specs Intelligence, and that data will not be used to train or fine-tune Snap's AI models or for personalized advertising.

On the technical side, Specs Intelligence uses a multi-model hybrid architecture, combining open-source models deployed in data centers in the United States with large language models running locally, and will continually adjust the underlying model mix based on actual usage. Users in the United States aged 18 and over can currently try a preview version through the iOS Specs app. A waitlist is open for the full early-access version on Mac, with access provided by invitation.
