Published: Updated: By 24TopNews Editorial Desk

The 2026 China Beer T5 Summit convened in Qingdao, bringing together leaders from China Resources Beer, Tsingtao Beer, Budweiser APAC, Yanjing Beer and Carlsberg China. National Bureau of Statistics data showed June beer output at 4.049 million kiloliters, down 3.1% year-on-year, while first-half cumulative output reached 19.362 million kiloliters, up 0.2%. Executives discussed cross-industry product launches, new consumption scenarios, and a shift from scale-driven to value-driven growth, with Budweiser APAC highlighting fermentation-based zero-sugar, zero-calorie offerings to avoid low-level competition.

The 2026 China Beer T5 Summit was held in Qingdao, Shandong, with leaders from China Resources Beer, Tsingtao Beer, Budweiser APAC, Yanjing Beer and Carlsberg China in attendance. The summit came just eight months after the previous edition, marking the shortest interval in recent sessions. National Bureau of Statistics data showed June output of industrial beer reached 4.049 million kiloliters, down 3.1% year-on-year, while cumulative output for January to June stood at 19.362 million kiloliters, up 0.2%.

China Resources Beer and Guyue Longshan jointly launched the cross-industry innovation product "Yue Xiao Pi" (literally "smaller beer"), aimed at attracting emerging consumer groups outside the traditional beer-drinking circle. China Resources Beer believes cross-industry products can drive demographic shifts in consumption and generate incremental demand. Carlsberg China's Chongqing Beer, leveraging its "local brand plus international brand" portfolio, launched more than 30 new products in 2025, spanning craft beer, tea beer and one-litre large cans, as well as non-beer categories including fruit-flavoured sodas, energy drinks and sparkling water.

Tsingtao Beer has explored a range of new consumption scenarios, including the Tsingtao Beer Museum, craft beer gardens, beer refuelling stations, the Tsingtao Beer Exchange and a beer express delivery service, offering consumers integrated product, scenario, experience and cultural services. Budweiser APAC emphasised that the core scenario for beer lies in "gathering", providing consumers with avenues for social interaction and shared enjoyment through cultural and sporting events and dining occasions, while supporting the recovery of physical consumption scenarios and fostering a healthy dining ecosystem.

Yanjing Beer proposed that the industry should move from scale-driven growth to value-driven growth, from low-level competition to high-quality competition, and from passively accepting market perceptions to actively shaping industry value. Leading brewers should direct resources toward long-term value areas including quality upgrades, consumer experience enhancement, channel efficiency, process innovation, brand cultivation and supply-chain coordination. Budweiser APAC believes the beer industry should leverage fermentation processes to achieve zero-sugar, zero-calorie and zero-fat characteristics, generating flavour naturally through biological reactions to avoid low-level homogenised competition with other beverages.
