Apple Unveils First Foldable iPhone Duo With eSIM-Only Design

Apple officially launched its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, at its autumn launch event. The product adopts an eSIM-only design worldwide.

China Unicom said domestic eSIM phone sales reached 1 million units in the first half of 2026. eSIM, or embedded SIM, is a virtual SIM technology that can be downloaded to mobile devices over a network. It requires only a small chip embedded in the phone, with no physical SIM card, thereby saving physical space in smartphones and helping manufacturers achieve thin and light designs.
