China Issues TCM Revitalization Plan; Drug Registration Approvals and Medical Services Index Surge 4%

A-share medical services index rose over 4% on July 27 as multiple drug firms, including ST Wanbang, received registration certificates. Wanbang Pharmaceutical surged over 13%, while several other stocks gained over 6%. The National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the National Development and Reform Commission issued the 15th Five-Year Plan for TCM revitalization, covering the 2026-2030 period.

On July 27, several listed pharmaceutical companies announced product registration certificates. The drugs are primarily used for treating epilepsy, including partial seizures, primary or secondary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and mixed seizures; and for relieving trigeminal neuralgia, including trigeminal neuralgia caused by multiple sclerosis, primary trigeminal neuralgia, and primary glossopharyngeal neuralgia.

ST Wanbang announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Wanbangde Pharmaceutical received a Drug Registration Certificate for Sulpiride Tablets, approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). Sulpiride Tablets are used for antipsychotic treatment. Saisheng Pharmaceutical announced that its subsidiary Sai'er Bio received an Acceptance Notice for a domestic production drug registration application for Dapagliflozin Tablets from the NMPA. The drug lowers blood glucose by inhibiting renal tubular glucose reabsorption and promoting urinary glucose excretion, with low risk of hypoglycemia as monotherapy, no weight gain, and mild gastrointestinal effects.

Baicheng Pharmaceutical announced that its self-developed innovative drug BIOS0635-048 Tablets received a clinical trial approval notice from the NMPA. BIOS0635-048 Tablets are a novel small-molecule inhibitor developed by the company, intended for the treatment of various solid tumors. Jianyou Co. announced that its wholly owned subsidiary EmergeBioscience Pte. Ltd. received a BLA approval letter from the U. S. Food and Drug Administration for Insulin Aspart Injection, indicated for improving glycemic control in adult and pediatric patients with diabetes.

The A-share pharmaceutical sector rose today. At the close, the Medical Services Index gained over 4%, Wanbang Pharmaceutical rose over 13%, Innovation Medical hit the daily limit up, Zhaoyan New Drug approached the daily limit, and several stocks including RuiZhi Pharmaceutical, Haoyuan Pharmaceutical, and Sunshine Nuohe rose over 6%. The National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the National Development and Reform Commission recently issued a notice, approved by the State Council, formally publishing the 15th Five-Year Plan for TCM Revitalization, which comprehensively outlines TCM work during the 2026-2030 period.
