China Says It Has Built World-Leading Power Battery Industry, Will Add Recycling Rules

A senior official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on September 3 that power batteries are critical to supporting the green, low-carbon transformation of industry and achieving the country's dual-carbon goals. China has built a globally leading power battery industry system.

Going forward, the country will focus on policy, regulation, and standards to continuously improve its power battery governance system. It will refine technical standards and testing and certification standards for power batteries, and implement new policies on power battery recycling and reuse. At the same time, it will further regulate market competition order, prevent blind capacity expansion and irrational competition, and foster a new industry environment of quality-based pricing and fair competition. In addition, it will expand the application of power batteries to new fields and scenarios, promote the coordinated development of new-energy vehicles with energy, transportation, and smart infrastructure, drive the green and intelligent transformation of the industry, and cultivate new growth points.
