Fifth BeiDou International Summit Opens in Zhuzhou as Industry Tops One Trillion Yuan

The fifth BeiDou Scale Application International Summit opened on September 15, 2026, in Zhuzhou, Hunan. Under the theme "One World, One BeiDou — Empowering the Globe," the summit is co-hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport, and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. About 900 people attended the opening ceremony, including Chinese and foreign experts and scholars, business executives, government officials, and representatives of international organizations. Among them were 170 overseas guests from 34 countries and regions and six international organizations. The summit exhibition area features 143 exhibitors presenting more than 1,300 achievements.
Zhang Guoqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Before the ceremony, Zhang met with Malagasy Prime Minister Christian Ntsay, who was attending the summit. Ntsay reaffirmed Madagascar's adherence to the one-China principle.
The BeiDou Industry Development Research Report (2026) was released the same day. The report states that China's BeiDou industry has continued to grow and has entered a stage of trillion-yuan scale. In 2025, BeiDou applications continued to expand in scenarios such as wearable devices, electric two-wheelers, and shared mobility, while BeiDou support in smartphones approached full coverage. BeiDou deployment in wearable devices, electric two-wheelers, and shared mobility vehicles reached application stages measured in the hundreds of millions and tens of millions. In energy, agriculture, emergency disaster reduction, and transport, BeiDou has moved from pilot demonstrations to large-scale application, forming multiple industry application markets ranging from the million to the tens of millions.
As one of the four global satellite navigation systems recognized by the United Nations, BeiDou-related products have been sold to more than 140 countries and regions worldwide, with a 58% market share in Belt and Road partner countries.
