A Google-commissioned survey finds that 21% of Hong Kong adults are AI super users and 47% are moderate users, with adoption strongest among those aged 25 to 44. Some 48% of respondents say AI saves them over one hour weekly. If small and medium-sized enterprises reach large-firm adoption levels by 2035, the study estimates Hong Kong could unlock up to HK$65 billion in economic benefits. It also shows 79% of workers want AI training and 88% of parents rank AI safety literacy alongside math and English.

Research commissioned by Google shows that by 2026, about 21% of Hong Kong adults are expected to be AI “super users” and 47% “moderate users. ” A further 48% of respondents say AI tools already save them more than one hour per week in work and daily life. The survey also indicates that AI adoption is highest among adults aged 25 to 44.

Among super users, more than 80% master advanced techniques including meta-prompting, providing examples, comparing different tools, and asking AI to self-review generated content. Nearly two-thirds of super users delegate complete tasks to AI to automate routine workflows, while subscribing to paid AI services. These behaviours show AI tools are deeply embedded in the work and life patterns of frequent users.

Interest in AI agents among Hongkongers centres on productivity-enhancing applications. Work assistants that handle email, scheduling and administrative tasks are the most popular, cited by 65%, followed by personal assistants for bookings and appointments at 55%. By age, 90% of those aged 25 to 34 express the highest interest in time-management and administrative agents, followed by 81% for those aged 35 to 44.

On workplace training, 79% of employed Hong Kong residents say they are interested in acquiring relevant skills to make fuller use of AI. The study estimates that if small and medium-sized enterprises attain large-enterprise AI adoption rates by 2035, the move could unlock up to HK$65 billion in economic benefits for Hong Kong.

Parents similarly value AI education. Some 88% of Hong Kong parents believe learning to use AI safely is as important as, or more important than, mastering mathematics or English. The findings underscore the growing importance of AI literacy in local household views on education.
