Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) released its H1 2026 economic data, with gross domestic product reaching 1967.8 hundred million yuan, up 6.1% year-on-year. Industrial output value neared 3600 hundred million yuan, with the industrial sector continuing to play a supporting role.
The combined output of leading industries—new-generation information technology, biotechnology and health, high-end automobiles and new energy intelligent vehicles, and robotics and smart manufacturing—accounted for over 90% of the area's total industrial output. Output of the new-generation information technology industry grew 37.5% year-on-year, while the robotics and smart manufacturing industry rose 12.3%. Future industries such as quantum information, biomanufacturing, fusion energy, brain science and brain-computer interfaces, embodied intelligence, and 6G communications saw steady expansion.
In the first half of the year, the area's total import and export value reached 1188.5 hundred million yuan, up 33.8% year-on-year. Corporate R&D and innovation grew rapidly, with R&D spending by large and medium-sized enterprises rising nearly 30%. The area added 13 new first-set products in Beijing, the highest number among all districts in the city.
