China Weighs Adding BYD to Corporate Delegation for Xi's 2026 US Visit

Published: Updated: By 24TopNews Editorial Desk

Chinese officials are considering including BYD in a corporate delegation that would accompany Xi Jinping on a trip to Washington next week for a summit with Donald Trump. Senior officials, including Central Office director Cai Qi, are reviewing a list of heavyweight Chinese business figures in preparation for the state visit, scheduled for September 24, 2026.

Several Chinese business leaders under consideration for the trip are still awaiting US visas. The United States imposes a 100% tariff on Chinese electric vehicles. In June 2026, BYD was placed on a US Defense Department blacklist over alleged ties to the People's Liberation Army. BYD opposes the designation.

When Trump visited Beijing in May 2026, a group of prominent corporate executives also accompanied him, including Musk, Cook and Huang.
