Hong Kong Q2 2026 Ad Spend Rises 5% to HK$8.77 Billion, World Cup Boosts June by 9%

Hong Kong's advertising expenditure in the second quarter of 2026 reached HK$8.77 billion, up 5% year-on-year. Monthly growth was 5% in April, 2% in May and 9% in June, driven by the World Cup. Social media led ad spending, followed by TV, mobile, search engine marketing and outdoor advertising. Magazine ads rose 22%. The banking, credit card and investment services sector saw a 19% increase, with HSBC and Hang Seng Bank posting 15% and 52% growth respectively. Insurance jumped 56% from 13th to 8th place.

Social media advertising ranked first, followed by television, mobile, search engine marketing and outdoor advertising in second to fifth place. Magazine advertising grew 22% year-on-year.

Banking, credit card and investment services became one of the top ten industries by ad spending, rising 19% year-on-year. HSBC and Hang Seng Bank ranked second and seventh among the top ten brand groups, with ad spending increasing 15% and 52% respectively. The pharmaceutical and healthcare sector ranked second with a 12% increase. Bathroom and household products ranked third, up 1%. Insurance rose from 13th place last year to eighth, with ad spending up 56% year-on-year. Retail, cosmetics and skincare, and beverages saw increases of 17%, 3% and 19% respectively.
