US-Iran Nuclear Talks Fail After 21 Hours; Ceasefire Expires April 21, Ultimatum Rejected

US and Iranian delegations failed to reach consensus after 21 hours of nuclear talks. A two-week ceasefire expires on April 21. US Vice President Vance said he delivered an ultimatum demanding a permanent end to Iran's nuclear program, which Iran rejected. The standoff mirrors a February breakdown in Geneva that led to 38 days of US airstrikes on over 13,000 targets. Iran insists on its right to peaceful nuclear energy under the NPT and demands sanctions relief, war reparations, and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Ukrainian Drone Strikes Hit Wildberries Warehouses; Putin Accuses West of Economic Terrorism

Russian President Vladimir Putin, meeting outgoing State Duma members, accused the West of resorting to terrorism against Russia's economy and financial system after failing to defeat it on the battlefield. This month, Ukrainian drones repeatedly struck warehouses and logistics centers of Russian retailer Wildberries, including facilities near St. Petersburg. Ukrainian long-range drone attacks have expanded beyond oil and defense targets, hitting a resort in occupied Zaporizhzhia region and killing at least 12 civilians. Russia labeled the strike terrorism. In turn, Ukraine accused Russia of terrorism over intensified missile and drone attacks on Kyiv residential areas.

China's July crude imports rebound to 7.8 million bpd, Saudi and UAE shipments surge

China's daily crude oil imports rebounded to about 7.8 million barrels in July from a more than 10-year low of 6.2 million barrels in November 2015. Saudi Arabia's shipments more than doubled, UAE's surged tenfold, and Russia's rose 10%. The rebound followed a temporary US-Iran ceasefire last month, but renewed fighting has disrupted shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea. Before the full outbreak of the US-Iran conflict on February 28, China's total imports were 12.6 million barrels per day, including 1 million via pipeline.
