China Restaurant Association: 2025 Catering Revenue 5.7982 Trillion Yuan, Up 3.2%

The 2026 China Catering Industry Annual Report shows that China's catering revenue reached 5.7982 trillion yuan in 2025, up 3.2% year on year. By the end of 2025, 7.5777 million catering merchants were recorded nationwide, a net increase of 721,400 from the end of 2023. The report shows that amid intensifying market competition, domestic catering revenue and several other indicators improved.

By business format, fast food and snack outlets reached 3.516 million in 2025, accounting for 46.4% of all merchants; Chinese-style full-service restaurants reached 1.1234 million outlets, and bakery and beverage outlets reached 1.0149 million. By city tier, third-tier cities had the largest number of catering outlets, at 1.7152 million; the number of catering outlets in fifth-tier cities grew 2.2%, marking three consecutive years of positive growth.
